RPT Software - Report Server Comparision to Crystal Reports

1. You would rather use Microsoft Access as your report writer.
2. It's easier to use.  Less ASP code is required.
3. It's easy to produce reports in different formats (PDF, RTF, XLS, SNP).
4. Less software is installed on the server.  Our product needs five files installed on your server.  
5. Stability of product.  Many of our users make the switch for this reason.
6. Built-in tracking of report requests.  Easy to add statistics of which reports are being created and how often.
7. Built-in method to determine how busy the report server is and ability to determine your reporting scalability needs.

Our product creates the whole report on the server and then sends the completed PDF file to the user for viewing in Acrobat Reader versus Crystal's normal delivery method is to use either an ActiveX control or Java Viewer depending on browser type and deliver the report in a paging fashion.  Both of these methods have pros and cons.
9. With Crystal you typically develop a system where the user needs a certain version of their ActiveX control.  As versions of their product change if your company has multiple reporting systems you can run into problems with a user having the wrong version of the client-side ActiveX control.  Using PDF reports is a simple and easy way to avoid client-side issues.
